BLESSED...

First, I would like to start off by saying that Carter and I are incredibly blessed by our families.  We both grew up in very close families and wouldn't change how or where we were raised for anything!  This month each of our parents had wedding anniversaries.  My mom and dad were married 25 years on August 2, 2011 and Mike and Vicky were married 29 years on August 28, 2011.  I would say that Carter and I have some very good examples of what a lasting marriage looks like.  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MARLIN & DANA and MIKE & VICKY!

We are also blessed by our friends both near and far.  Carter and I both have very close friends that we grew up with, but none of them live here in San Angelo.  God has given us some great Christian friends here in San Angelo as well that we couldn't imagine life without!  We had a few of those friends over for Fondue Night a couple of weeks ago.  It is so fun!  For those of you unfamiliar with fondue, you fill the fondue pot with oil (or chocolate or whatever you want to fondue with) and each person has a stick.  You take food items, dip them in batter, and then place them in the oil and allow them to fry until golden brown.  We fondued weenies and made them into corn dogs, pickles, and mozzarella cheese.  We always have so much fun and the boys like to make it interesting and fry whatever else they can find.  I think they fondued cantaloupe and an oreo this time.  I have to admit the oreo wasn't too bad!  For dessert we made funnel cakes.  I know, I know, it sounds like a TON of calories...but that's ok once in a while isn't is!?

One of the funnel cakes.  They tasted SO good!
Carter decided that Micah would probably enjoy a Fondued Funnel Cake Treat...so he made her one AFTER everyone else was finished!
This past weekend Carter and I went back to my home town, Welch to watch my brother play football.  My Uncle Jr. and Aunt Penny along with my cousins Eric, Erin and their kids, Ethan and Emery, Jennifer, Nathan and their daughter, Abigail also came to watch!  It was so nice to see all of them, especially Jennifer, Nathan, and for the first time Abigail!  It was like a mini family reunion!  BLESSED!  The Dawson Dragons played Whitharral and lost in overtime by a touchdown.  The boys played so hard and it was VERY hot!  Seth got overheated during the game and got sick and dehydrated.  We ended up taking him to the ER to get some IVs after the game.  It was a bit scary and an eye opener to just how hot it is to be playing football.  While we were at the ER I was reminded how very blessed I am to be from Welch.  Within minutes of us arriving with Seth, the waiting room was full of people who love and care for Seth and our family.  Seth was feeling much better after some IV fluids.  I think he was still pretty sore and achy for the next couple of days, but much better than he was after the game Friday.  Please keep all of the boys playing football in your prayers over the next couple of months!

On Saturday night while Carter and I were at my parent's house, my mom cooked a big supper and had Momma-D & Poppy over.  We enjoyed some family time and watched the Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings game.  Momma-D has a tradition of making a birthday cake of your choosing (most popular is her famous red velvet) for you on your birthday.  Since we were all in Minnesota on mine and Carter's birthday, Momma-D wasn't able to make us a cake.  But, she didn't forget!  She made Carter and I a red velvet cake and brought it out to the house.  Did I mention how blessed we are by Momma-D and Poppy?

So like I said when I started....BLESSED!  No other way to describe it!
