Carter and I have been incredibly blessed to spend tons of quality time together the last couple of weeks. Carter has had some small rig calls that have allowed him to run out to the rig, fix it, and come right back home. And, at the hospital our patient census has been on the lower side of normal, so I have had an extra day off for the last two weeks. After I got the house cleaned and the laundry done, I would cook supper at night, and then we would push the couches together in the living room (one couch really isn't big enough for the both of us to lay comfortably) and watch movies. We had fun doing that! Honestly, I can't even remember the last time we had watched a movie together, that is how busy we have been this summer! Carter got to spend some time working on stuff out in his shed too, even though it was over 100 degrees every day!
My cousins, Danielle, Colby and their son, Drake, came and stayed a couple of nights with Carter and I one weekend. They were spending time with my Aunt and Uncle out at the lake. It was good to see and spend a little time with them. Drake is SO cute and getting so big! I wish that I had taken some pictures! Carter and I spent some time out on the lake as well. We took Anna and Stephen out with us on the boat. Carter decided to get a new wakeboard when they went on sale. We all loved the new board! Stephen and Anna both learned to wakeboard at the beginning of the summer, and with little practice Stephen was doing excellent! Carter has also mastered clearing the wake with the new board! We have also taken the jet skis out and played when it was just the two of us. I really enjoy going to the lake and I love summer, but I have to say that I am looking forward to it cooling down some!
This past week I got on a project kick! I started doing things around the house that Carter or I neither one wanted to do, but needed to be done. As most of you know, the majority of our house is Saltillo Mexican tile. It was starting to look dull and get cracks and chips. I began researching how to care for Saltillo tile. We came to the conclusion that it really needed to be re-sealed, which you are supposed to do periodically to keep it protected from cracking and chipping. After even further research, we decided to re-seal it ourselves. We bought the supplies and I got to work. Let me tell you, that was one of the WORST projects I have ever done! It was exhausting, but the end project was so worth it! It looks like totally new tile!

These were the before pictures of the game room. I wish I would have thought to take before pics of the whole house, but I didn't think about it until I got to the game room, but all the tile pretty much looked the same.

This week it RAINED!!! Exactly one week after Governor Rick Perry called a day of National Prayer and Fasting....coincidence? I think NOT! Carter and I just sat outside and listened, smelled, and danced in the rain! Momma-D used to always take us grandkids outside when it rained and throw her hands up in the air and twirl in circles screaming "Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!". I think of that every time it rains! So, I went out and did just that! Carter took pictures! For those of you from Minnesota, our rain was not near as impressive as what we saw while we were there, BUT it was amazing to see rain that lasted more than a couple of minutes after 10+ months of hot and dry!

Carter worked all night last night and when he got home, it was raining AGAIN! I found him out in the yard riding his go-cart and covered in mud! Boys and their toys and mud!
| Yes, this go-cart is much to small! He has had it since he was a kid! He rides it anyway! |
Well...that's all I have this time! I'm sure things are about to speed back up as Dawson Dragon 6-Man Football is starting up in a couple of weeks. My brother is a senior so I'm sure we will be traveling to lots of those games! That's all folks!
