Lots of Exciting Stuff!

So, I had to actually read my last blog update to remember when I last posted and where I left off!   Pretty sad!  I keep thinking that one day my goal of updating our blog once a month will become a reality...maybe.  So I left off after 4th of July at the lake...I'll try to make it short and sweet getting everyone caught up to OCTOBER!

Well, on July 12th to be exact, Carter and I got some BIG news!  We were going to be blessed with a baby!!!  We were so excited...and yes, it was planned (although we weren't expecting it quite so quick)!  Carter wanted me to be extra sure since he was having a hard time believing it, so he had me take a second pregnancy test a couple of days later, just for some reassurance! : )

We weren't going to tell anyone for a while just to make sure everything went normally, but my parents came down the next weekend and we knew we would see them again the following weekend.  We were about to BURST wanting to tell so badly, so we told my family when they came to visit.

Towards the end of July, Seth got to play in the Texas All-Star Football Game, which he was chosen to be a part of.  So Carter and I went to Lubbock to hang out with my family and watch Seth.  His team did not end up winning and things didn't go exactly as Seth would have wanted, but Seth did score a touchdown!

Carter and I flew to Minnesota to visit his family and to attend a wedding on August 15.  We enjoyed getting to see all of his family and the wedding.  Mitch and Katie got married on August 18 and it was beautiful!

I had to steal this from Katie's facebook, since I didn't get any pics!

We were also very anxious to see Carter's family so we could tell them that we were having a baby!  Carter had wanted to wait and tell them in person, so it was a very LONG 6-7 weeks!

When we got back from Minnesota my friends, Jenn and Lindsay, came to San Angelo to visit.  We had a good weekend of catching up!

On August 27, Carter and I got to see our baby and hear the heart beat for the first time!  I can't even explain to you the feeling that you get!  It is such a miracle and an AMAZING feeling!  The baby was very small, but we could actually see it kicking it's tiny legs!

Our first pic of our baby!  I won't bore you with all of them since it is SO small!
A couple of weeks later Carter and I flew back to Minnesota for another wedding.  This was a very quick trip, but we had a good time and got to see a few of his friends we hadn't seen since our Minnesota wedding reception!  Trent and Brooke got married on September 22.  She looked stunning and both the wedding and reception were awesome!

Since I found out I was pregnant I made the decision to begin studying for my CCRN certification.  What that is is Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse, and it is just a certification or more initials to write behind my name.  My boss had mentioned getting the certification to me several times and many of the very good nurses who work on our unit have it.  I decided that if I did not get it before I had the baby, then chances were pretty slim that I ever would.  It is a very hard test that encompasses the entire body, all the body systems and a lot of different disease processes and their pathophysiology.  I took my test on October 5 in Lubbock.  We decided to make a weekend out of it and spend some time with my family. I was so stressed out and ready for the test to be OVER!  Good news....I PASSED!  I am now officially Brittnee Brandt, RN, BSN, CCRN!

The Saturday following my test we all went to the Texas Tech football game.  Tech played OU in what turned out to be a terrible game, but we had fun!

Our friend Kembra, who is an ultrasound tech, graciously did an ultrasound on me while we were visiting to see if we could find out the gender of Baby Brandt.  It was fun to see the baby and hear the heart beat again!  Mom & Dad also got to go with us and see it!

A few weeks ago we went to San Antonio with Stephen & Anna and stayed on the Riverwallk.  Stephen had to go for a business conference and the rest of us went along just to have fun!  We really enjoyed it!  We ate really well and also went the 40 miles or so to San Marcos to shop at the outlet mall.  I was terrible and didn't take one single picture while we were there!

This past weekend we spent time with Stephen & Anna and Sohn & Jennifer.  We did our traditional pumpkin carving evening and watched a movie!  We had a great time!  Thank you Jesus for sweet friends!

The 2 on the end are Sohn's, who is a Texas fan, and Carter's, who is obviously a Texas Tech fan....we will see how the match up this weekend turns out!

We also found out last weekend that Kaylee was elected Minnesota State BPA Secretary!  BPA stands for Business Professionals of America and Kaylee has been a big part of the organization for a few years now!  We are so excited for her!

And, last but definitely the most exciting is that Carter and I had an ultrasound on Tuesday at 20 weeks and 1 day.  I just love seeing that sweet baby every time!  We were hoping to confirm the gender and the ultrasound tech said that she was 99.9% sure that Baby Brandt is a...BOY!  Those ultrasounds really are amazing!  She was able to identify his kidneys, diaphragm, all 4 ventricles of his brain, all 4 chambers of his heart and all of his extremeties!  So far everything looks great!  We are so excited and can't wait to meet our little Mr.!  We also have a name, although we aren't 100% settled on the middle name yet...Bryk Brandt!

Baby Bryk

We have been so bad about taking pictures of me throughout the pregnancy, but we have been trying to do better!  The baby bump has definitely established itself and continues to grow!  Glad that Bryk is growing, but poor momma is starting to feel big...like every time I get dressed!  Most recent couple of week pics...

19 week baby bump
Excuse the no make-up... 20 week baby bump!  He is definitely growing!
Well, I think I just about covered it all!  Hopefully, I will get another update in before 3 months has past!  I'm sure with a baby on the way there will be lots more exciting news and pics to share!
